- Older women are more likely to be hospitalized for substance
abuse related problems than a heart attack
- 1.8 million older women abuse alcohol
- Older women can be treated for this disease!
Although
women are less likely to drink than men, they are more vulnerable
to the effects of alcohol use. Older women have aging related
physical changes, which adds to their risk of problems with
alcohol and other drugs. They get addicted faster with smaller
ammounts than any other group of adults.

in an environment that emphasizes:

- Developing coping skills
- Being supportive
- Rebuilding support networks
- Creating family involvement
- Understanding grief and loss

- Individual Counseling
- Case Management
- Transportation
- Women's Resource Center
