The Nutrition Program - Overview of Program

A very successful
collaboration between Mature Services and the Akron
Metropolitan Housing Authority (AMHA) makes it possible
for nutritious, low-cost lunches to be prepared at the Marian
T. Hall Community Center in Akron and served at seven
other congretate sites in Summit County.
In 2004/2005,
the Nutrition Program prepared 40,855 meals and served
them to older adults at Marian Hall as well as to residents
of Lauer, Sutliff, Mayflower Manor and Saferstein Towers,
Hillwood I, White Pond Villa and the Retirement Center of
Green. Meals are provided regardless of the recipient's ability
to pay. Marian Hall's Older Adult Program presents
community programs and events and encourages the older adults
who visit the center to become involved in community outreach
activities and intergenerational programs in the Edgewood
Community.
The Marian T. Hall Community Center also hosts other socialization
activities for older adults including educational presentations, ceramics
and sewing classes, music, singing, crafts, neighborhood yard sales,
shopping trips and more throughout the year.
